The Stobart Group is one of the UK’s leading providers of multimodal transport and logistics solutions. They have a fleet totalling around 1,850 trucks, 3,000 trailers and 27 depots at strategic locations throughout the UK and Europe.

The Challenge

The Group was mid project to upgrade their systems to Manhattan Associates' Integrated Logistics Solutions. Motive Technology was called in to develop a web interface for managing order fulfilment. Through a new EDI to XML messaging processor, EDI orders from Eddie Stobart’s customers were transformed into XML and input to the Manhattan Associates Solution.

The Solution

The system uses a sophisticated EDI to XML map editor to allow the Stobart Group to have total control and flexibility over all of the inbound and outbound messages. Various messaging formats such as Infolink, Tradacomms, ANSI 302, etc. are all supported but, as and when new message formats are required, the system has the capability to be quickly configured to process it.
For customers without EDI capabilities, the web portal running on SQL server with real-time processing via the EDI to XML processor, provides a global access point for order fulfilment.

The Result

With global customers such as ASDA and Sainsbury's, the new integrated system allows more efficient and dynamic responses to their needs and helps to keep the Stobart Group at the forefront of its business (www.stobartgroup.co.uk).
