Jessops has been providing photographic equipment and accessories to the domestic market since 1935 and now has over 200 nationwide stores with a combined annual turnover of in excess of £250 million (2008).
The Challenge
Having originally provided Jessops' first transactional website, Motive's continuing challenge is to grow online sales, improve margin and provide a world-class multi-channel shopping experience.
The Solution
The Motive Team has guided Jessops through the complex journey of ecommerce, design and development, online shopping, reservation of in-store stock and instant payment facilities.
The site integrates a catalogue of 40,000 products so customers can place and track orders for home delivery or collection at any of Jessops 200+ stores.
The solution incorporates some leading edge technology which, in real time, checks store availability, reserves stock, and manages despatch and distribution. Motive uses Web Services and XML to integrate to the client’s back-office and warehousing systems and coordinate distribution to over 200 outlets. A customer who orders online for collection in-store typically receives a “Ready for Collection” confirmation within 15 minutes (via SMS).

Motive's team was able to demonstrate that they possessed a clear understanding of the marketplace, coupled with the necessary skills in database and website development.
The entire platform is based upon Motive’s robust framework and Jessops regularly benefits from over £300,000 of online sales per day. The business relationship continues to thrive and there are ongoing plans to increase functionality and client interaction.
