Smallworld Cable provides cable TV, broadband and telephone services to households and businesses across north west England and south west Scotland. With three data centres across the region it also supplies secure hosting and software support to a large number of clients.

The Challenge

Motive was tasked with building a new website for Smallworld Cable in mid 2010. The site needed to be highly informative with a lot of useful content whilst being easy to navigate and appealing in design.

The Solution

The new website was integrated with Smallworld Cable’s central systems to provide a facility for users to find out if cable services are available to their home. They simply input their postcode and can find out instantly if they can receive Smallworld’s services.

Other features include registrations, newsletter subscriptions and enquiries which are delivered to an external CRM (customer relationship marketing) system via an API (application programming interface).

Kentico CMS (content management system) was used to deliver the website content, user registration and newsletter functionality.

The Result

Motive’s team of developers and designers created a site that is both easy and pleasing to use for Smallworld’s user base.

Over 1,000 people per month are now using the postcode checker facility and the number continues to grow.

Smallworld personnel have complete control over changing their content, adding special offers, news items, and banners. In the fast paced world of television this is vital with channels changing names and schedules constantly varying.

David Durnford, CEO of Smallworld commented: “As a local supplier, Smallworld is very close to its customers and prides itself on providing excellent value for money with friendly, reliable service. The website accurately reflects these values and is a highly effective source of vital information for our customers”.
