As part of the Smallworld Media Group, Motive is in the unique position of being able to offer its clients private and secure hosting in Smallworld’s three Tier 3 data centres, based in England and Scotland.
Hundreds of business systems and websites are hosted in the data centres including UK-wide hotel groups such as Macdonald Hotels and Akkeron Hotels and critical business systems for the Stobart Group, First Rail Support and Bakkavor, amongst others.
The data centres provide guaranteed network uptime and each site has dual power supplies, back-up generators and dual site connectivity for internet resilience. The buildings are CCTV monitored 24/7 and have the FM200 fire suppression system.
Over £15 million has been invested in our data centres, including two Virtual environments featuring the latest VMware infrastructure, an industry leader whose cloud solutions and management platform provide flexibility, quality and optimum performance.
Smallworld Media prides itself on close customer contact. Customer service is very personal, callers speak directly to technicians rather than telephonists and clients are welcome to inspect the centres firsthand.
Support is key to the Motive ethos and it doesn’t end when we launch your website or application! It begins when we start your project.

Communicating with our clients:
Daily update - this is intended to be a quick progress catch up to exchange information as well as follow up on actions between the Motive project manager and the client.
Weekly project meeting - this is to make sure that the project is on track and to review any actions, risks, issues, assumptions and questions that have been raised.
Weekly webinar – delivered by the Motive project manager to demonstrate the latest developments of the project. We aim to give confidence that we are building the right thing and it also allows us to collect feedback which is useful in future iterations.
Communicating internally:
Daily meeting - the project team has a short meeting each morning to review the previous day and plan out the day ahead. The focus is on progress against plan, productivity and unblocking any issues.
Once a week the team has a project quality review to prioritise and define the tasks for the week ahead.
Once live, we help with:
- Assistance planning – marketing and content strategy
- Break–Fix application support
- Content enhancements assistance
- Analytics – performance monitoring
- Assigned account manager
