I think everyone (or at least everyone reading this) has filled out an online form. They’re pretty dull and unexciting most of the time, so I thought I’d try something different. Using Flash I created an animated contact form. This took a lot of painstaking masking work and patience, but I made a library item for every letter in a handwriting themed font.

From there ActionScript took over. I gave the movie the xml treatment so the fields it was looking for could be selected and validated. It reads the keyboard entries and adds new movie clips as it goes for each letter, skipping to the next one when the next key is pressed.

The results may not be as usable as the standard contact form but is very striking and so will be remembered.
